Saturday, August 3: Astorga to Rabanal del Camino

22km today, most of it gradually uphill.

Leaving Astorga the camino was not well marked and I got turned around a few times. I can't be the only one this happens to either. The walk today was rather uninteresting. It was a chilly morning.

I stopped for a bocadillo for an early lunch. I am so bored of sandwiches. This one was sachichon and cheese and served hot which is the only reason I paid the €3 for it.

Just before the town I noticed a party tent set up of at one of the farms. Then not much later these two came riding by in style. The groom even shouted to wish me "Buen Camino".

I stopped at the first albergue in town because it had wifi. Albergue La Senda. It was an adequate albergue, nothing special. I only know one person here, John, from Father Anthony's group, and he is not the chatting kind.

It was a quiet evening. I made pasta from a packet and a tomato salad with oil and vinegar. The tomatoes were the highlight of the meal, maybe even the day. It was just a very dull day.
