Tuesday, July 30: Cathedral of León

The Cathedral of León was built in the late 13th century. It was a revolutionary building for the time. The ribbed arch had just been invented changing church designs from small dark windowless buildings to soaring monoliths of stone and stained glass.  The cathedral has over 1800 square meters of stained glass, most of it is original.

Stained glass is really hard to photograph with my iPhone.

This guy photobombed my picture. At first I didn't recognize him but it is one of the Spanish guys who has been at my albergue the last few nights. He was heading home from León because of tendinitis. He said the camino is only for tough Americans like me.
