Barcelona Arrival

I slept better on this flight than the previous one. I think the old guys sitting next to me got a kick out of watching my unconscious head flop around. Security, customs and another stamp in my passport, I got my bag and faithfully followed the signs with the picture of the train on them. 22 signs later I was in the station but no one was at the ticket window. Not only are the ticket machines all in Spanish they have abbreviations all over the place. So much fun at 11:00 at night when you can see the train at the platform and all the locals are hurrying fast, too fast to help pathetic tourists. I punch the top button which I guess means adult then in the next screen the one that says P de Gr which I think stands for Passeig de Gracia, my destination. In goes €4 and I get a ticket and 20 cents in change. Miraculously the ticket opens the turnstile! I hurry to the train. I stop and ask 3 security guys and they say to get off at the 4th stop.

I disembark and follow everyone up to street level. I look around at the construction zone I just appeared in. I the other tourists with backpacks as large as mine and arrive on the correct street and follow it until I find the correct number.

The nightshift teenager at the front desk speaks flawless English and gets me checked in to my room. 312 bed #1. I drop my stuff off in the locker in the room and head back down stairs for food. There was no free peanuts on the plane. They even charged for drinks. So it has been awhile since the Cheese &Onion chips I didn't eat. The desk guy recommends a place the next block over. It ends up being a German dinner. I order the "Bitte" or what would be a weisswurst in Germany (I don't know the name in English but it is a mild white sausage).   It  comes nicely grilled on a wonderful crunchy baguette roll. America, we really need to replace hotdog buns with these rolls. So Good!  Add a little mustard and a Fanta on the side and it was great midnight food.

I retuned to the hostle put my earplugs in and slept like the dead.

The hostel and my bed. Top bunk of course.
