Walking to the Vatican we came across this view.
We were all hot, hungry and in need of a bathroom. The last time We had the opportunity was like over 5 hours ago on the ship. We all told Laura like 8 times that we needed the bathroom, and we kept walking. We eventually conveyed our desperation adequately enough and she finally led us to a cafe. We had 10 minutes for lunch. I went into this pizza place that sold pizza by the inch/ cm. they folded my €3 slice in half and wrapped it in wax paper. Pizza and Fanta were like ambrosia. I finished with a spare 2 minutes to grab a small chocolate and pistachio gelato. Soooo Good!
More walking, top speed, up hill... to the Vatican Museum. Once inside Laura was very informative about the collection and I learned a lot. Hey look its that Death Star statue again.
The discovery if this statue was so significant that you can see a dramatic difference in the styles of masters such as Michelangelo and Raphael.
More statues
We went through halls of tapestries and maps all with ornately painted ceilings.
We saw the Sistine Chapel. The kept telling everyone to be quiet. Laura kept talking. You aren't allowed to take pictures either.
We rushed to St Peter's Basilica with 15 minutes before we had to leave for the train station. St. Peter's is huge and ornate. Really amazing but we didn't have time to appreciate it.
We climbed barricades, took a bus one stop and made it to the train station with only 5 minutes to spare. Yup made back to the ship on time. A picture of me and Laura...
This big statue was in the port town.
For dinner Thea, Janet and I went to Moderno a Brazilian churrascaria. All you can eat meat! We started with the appetizer bar. I had olives, fresh mozzarella cheese, hearts of palm, prosciutto, tomato cucumber & feta salad... They brought 4 little pots with fried bananas, garlic mashed potatoes, jasmine rice and baked beans. We flipped our cards to green and pigged out.
The waiters brought around:
Chicken wrapped in bacon
Garlic beef
Lamb chops
Picanha beef sirloin
Beef ribs
Filet Minion
Prime Rib
Grilled Pineapple
So delicious.
