I woke up at 8:00, showered and trekked up to the 7th floor to start washing laundry. I detest laundry. But I wasn't going to be able to do laundry on the ship.
Today is Cruise Day!
Also my sister-in-law Katie's birthday. Happy Birthday Katie!
While the clothes were in the wash I went down to the all you can eat toast buffet. (They have cereal too but I don't eat that.)
Clothes clean once again I packed up and checked out. I took the "subway" down to Columbus monument at the water front. Then I caught the public shuttle bus to the cruise terminals. Easy enough and cost €4.50 for both rides. I dropped off my bags and checked in. I was on board by 11:45.
My favorite place for lunch on the ship is the "free" restaurant Taste. I was starving and headed straight there. I pigged out. I ordered 2 apps and 2 mains. I had the wonderfully light and tangy summer roll with sweet chili sauce, and the portobello mushroom topped with baked goat cheese. Both are so yummy. My favorite entrée is the chicken Milanese but I have been craving pasta something fierce. So I ordered both. The chicken Milanese is a breaded and fried chicken cutlet with an lemon vinegarette arugula salad. My second entrée was spaghetti Bolognese. It was so good just what I had been craving. I was too stuffed for dessert.
I went back to the room and watched some American tv. The bags arrived and I unpacked until the lifeboat drill.
After the drill I went across the hall to my friend Janet's room and knocked on her door. We screamed and hugged like school girls. We were both sure that we would have seen the other at the lifeboat drill but no. As it turns out evens and odds were on different sides of the theater.
We chatted to get caught up with each other. Then we went up to the top of the ship to watch us sail away from Barcelona.
Th sail away was not scenic. We passed container storage and ware houses. And the airport.
Janet and I met up for dinner with a few other single travelers. I had the spring roll appetizer, a ceased salad and lovely grilled strip steak.
We all chatted for a long time over dinner and got to know each other.
A few of us went to see if there was any room left in the late Blue Man Group show. There was an I saw it again for the 5th time. Still good as ever.
Glad to be back on board the Epic!
