Cruise Day 2 Monday

I awoke to a commotion outside my door. I was sure that it was too early to be up like 6 or something. But no, it was 9:45. I showered and scarfed down a quick breakfast at the buffet (scrambled eggs, hash browns, German stuff-on-bread, grits and turkey sausage, and OJ). I was in a hurry to make it to the information session about all the ports of call.

Booked upcoming shows for 3 friends and myself.

I went to Taste for lunch. Had just sat down and ordered when Janet came over so I switched to their table. It turns out Thea was the one knocking on my door this morning. Thea is a few years younger than me and from the Netherlands. Delightful girl! They had almost finished their  main courses when I got there but I caught up fast with my mad Comkowycz speed eating skills. I had the same Portobello mushroom appetizer and the  Chicken  Milanese again. For dessert I had the Chocolate mouse which was good but too sweet for my personal preference.

After lunch we hung out by pool for the rest of the afternoon. Thea and I went down the 2 watersides. The water was cold and the wind chilled us so we jumped in the hot tub for a bit and just chatted.
Thea, me, Lynette

Janet, Lynette, Thea and I laid in the sun for a while. We passed Corsica and Sardinia. Then Janet noticed we had made a rather weird turn instead of angling straight southeast.   A few minutes later the captain came on the loudspeaker. He told everyone that there was a very sick person on the ship and we were turning north to meet up with the emergency airlift helicopter which was going to take this person off the boat. (Really glad I got that travel insurance. I hope this guy did too.)

The helicopter came and lowered guys up and down multiple times before we see the patient go up. The upper decks were packed with onlookers. We are all horrible, horrible people... It was just so entertaining.

The helicopter show left us scrambling back to our rooms to get ready as quickly as possible to meet the others for dinner. We were a few minutes late, oh well. The Ship's activities' department organizes an optional dinner for the solo travelers. Vieaney from Mexico is our hostess. There was a but of a line but we got a coupon for free champaign at the bar for our wait.
Tonight's Dinner:
Presciutto with melon
Black bean soup
Shrimp & chicken Thai curry
Latin style sirloin steak

Everything was delicious. There was a live band in the restaurant that played all duets, Dirty Dancing, Grease, Sonny & Cher...they even had the ships professional dancers do a few numbers.

Me at dinner

I went back to the room, watched an episode of The Big Bang Theory and went to bed early.
