I walked 13 km today, as slowly as a snail.
Passed through the villages of Tosantos, Villambista and Espinosa del Camino. These towns are so small they have populations less than 100 people. There is nothing but an albergue, a bar, a church and a few houses. They don't have a store but there are bread and fruit trucks that drive honking in to town. The trucks stop for a few minutes then leave for the next town.
These cookies I bought at the gas station are wicked good! And the gas station had a nice clean bathroom! Double score!
There are a whole new crew of people in the albergue tonight. It is funny how if you don't stay at the "normal" pace suddenly you know no one and are the outsider of another group of people who are already fast friends. This group seems to be quite tight. An Aussie girl, a Spanish girl and a Canadian girl, several Germans, 2 Welsh guys and a brother and sister from New Hampshire... I have met so far.
I am staying at the Municipal Albergue. I hear that's a mistake. The private one here is supposedly nicer. Both cost €5 but the other has wifi. The municipal here has a nice kitchen but my mattress is not comfortable.
I ate early like 4:30. I made a delicious cucumber and tomato salad, pasta packet with hotdogs, and kiwi for dessert. In the smaller towns the protein selection gets kind of small (lunchmeat, hotdogs and eggs mostly).
Another mountain looms ahead tomorrow.
