Thursday, July 4: Camino- Day 3 Espinal to Zubiri

I guess sleeping till 7:30 makes me a late sleeper around here. Today it was a little drizzly but not as miserable as the day before.

The walk to day was really just like a long walk in the woods. Most of it was relatively flat. Thank goodness. A lot of the walk felt like hiking in parts of Massachusetts, like the Berkshires or in Bebe Woods on Cape Cod.
Hey look a guy on a unicycle, ham and cheese sandwich lunch, crowded trail, don't stop walking.

I also found/made a walking stick in the woods. Pictured with camino trail markers.

The camino is very busy. The "good" auberges were full when I made it to Zubiri and I ended up in the lackluster municipal auberge. I was hoping to was clothes, like in a washer machine. No such luck here. I hand washed enough to get me through one more day.

Everyone's dirty boots at the entrance to the hostel

In my to today were Jess and BJ sisters from Canada and their friend Marie from Madrid. We went back to the river at the edge of town, got some snacks and hung out with other pilgrims.

Happy Fourth of July! Standing on a river with a Diet Coke

We split pizzas at the sport center's bar for dinner. We walked back to the hostel like 80 year old ladies. Our feet hurt, our backs ached and our legs didn't want to move.
